Captain's Log
April 24, 2003
Hello all,
It's not been the most fun since BTC Velocity and I collided with the whales 9 days ago. Probably not so good for the whales either, but pleasant and fast conditions have returned for at least the last 2 days and as with all sailors, we have a short memory for the bad and a long memory for the good.
Presently in lovely reaching conditions, which keep us on the level, easier to move around the cabin and deck as I favor my left side. The searing temperatures have backed down some so that cabin is now reaching a high of 88 degrees not the brutal 96 degrees that has been common since leaving Salvador. As the front runners are experiencing tricky conditions, I have what looks like a consistent pattern for at least the next 3 days. A small benefit of being at the back of the pack.
As the mileage to Newport decreases I am increasingly feeling the comfort of being in home waters. With Bermuda on the horizon I am savoring all the sensations of being at sea, alone.
